Brewer's Description:	Boulevard Lunar Ale is a cloudy, russet brown beer with subtle aromatic notes provided by our special yeast strain. A substantial portion of the grain used in brewing is wheat, which produced a beer that is naturally hazy. We also use a small amount of German roasted malt, which adds the distinctive color. The result is a beer with a uniquely rounded, mellow flavor crowned by a crisp, dry finish. In the tradition of great ales, we've added a small amount of yeast to the beer just before packaging to produce a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The yeast, which settles naturally to the bottom of the bottle, encourages further maturation and contributes to the beer's complex flavor.
Appearance:	Cloudy amber/brown color. Head is off-white with a tinge of tan in it. Small bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass. Poured a small head without much retention.
Aroma:	I can smell the yeast. Almost smells like the Don de Dieu. Pick up something similar to cider.
Taste:	Lots of aftertaste. Much more flavor after swallowing than when the beer is in my mouth. Has some sourness in it. Nice blend of hops & malt, minus the sourness.
Mouth Feel:	Good feel with just the right amount of carbonation.
Drinkability:	I seem to remember this being better the weekend it was brought to me. Perhaps it's better to drink it quickly after purchase. IT's date was 12/24/07, so it shouldn't be bad. Maybe it just fermented more. If I get some more at Christmas, I'll experiment with aging it.

Boulevard Pilsner debuts this summer

This is excellent news. When we toured the Boulevard Brewery in January, they had their pilsner in the tasting room as an experimental brew and it was delicious. Hopefully, they'll expand distribution soon. I'd love to be able to get some in Texas.

(Kansas City, MO) – Perk up, Midwesterners. Boulevard Brewing will add a new year-round beer later this summer. According to a brewery rep, “Boulevard Pilsner will be [...] available initially only in Kansas City in 6-packs. We’re paying homage to the legacy of past Kansas City breweries with a classic American lager; all malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. Basically an American beer “revival” for local consumers made by a traditional Midwestern craft brewery.” The beer label was recently approved by the TTB.

I've fallen way behind on posting to my beer blog. I couldn't help but post this morning. I checked my email today and found that Kegs & Barrels now carries Boulevard beers, including Bully Porter, Dry Stout, Lunar Ale, Nutcracker Ale, Pale Ale and Unfiltered Wheat. Until now, I was of the understanding that Boulevard did not distribute to Texas. I've got a stock that was given to me for Christmas, but I can't wait to go pick some up...

Brewer's Description:	-Bottle Conditioned- In the tradition of great ales, we've added a small amount of yeast to the beer just before packaging to produce a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The yeast, which settles naturally to the bottom of the bottle, encourages further maturation and contributes to the beer's complex flavor. Brewed with two row barley malt, pure water, whole hops and yeast.
Appearance:	Medium-amber in color. Poured a good head and retained it well. Very small bubbles evolve while sitting in a glass on the counter.
Aroma:	Not quite as "spicy" as the HopDevil, but can smell what I guess is hops. Nothing too distinct.
Taste:	Very good pale ale. Just the right bitterness. Mild, not too bitter.
Mouth Feel:	Just right carbonation. Smooth.
Drinkability:	Very drinkable. So far, my favorite American Pale Ale.
