Brewer's Description:	This is Dan's bold creation. You hold the international marriage of a sophisticated Bavarian Hefeweiss and an assertive American Pale Ale. Amarillo dry hopping drives Wisconsin Red Wheat. Traditional open top fermentation cultivates our proprietary Bavarian Weiss yeast in our own Wheat Beer Cellars. Appearance:	Poured a huge head and retained it for several minutes. I think this one had the longest head retention I've seen. Head eroded into a mound in the center of the glass, sloping downwards from the middle towards the walls. Color is light copper. It's unfiltered and is quite cloudy.
Aroma:	Smells more like a pale ale than a traditional Hefeweiss. I can definitely smell hops like those in a pale ale.
Taste:	Taste is a pretty good mix between the two styles. It's unlike anything else I've tried, so far. If I had to pick something else I've tried that might be in the ballpark, I'd say a Boulevard Lunar Ale, but there are significant differences there.
Mouth Feel:	Feel is fine. The frothy head wasn't an indication of low carbonation as I thought it might have been, per the widget can trials I've had.
Drinkability:	This one got better as I got through it. It was a little harsh at first, but became more and more appealing. I think I'd rather try some other brews from New Glarus instead of getting more of this one.

Brewer's Description:	Anchor Summer is the first American wheat beer in modern times. Our first brew of this light and refreshing beer was in the summer of 1984. Anchor Summer is an all-malt beer, and over 50% of its malt comes from malted wheat. It is fermented with a Triticum aestivum, AKA wheat traditional top-fermenting "ale" yeast because we prefer the clean flavors developed by this yeast. We believe that this style best celebrates the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. You may notice that the head on this beer is unusually abundant, with a consistency similar to whipped egg whites. This is due to protein contributed by the wheat. The brewers at Anchor are proud to have revived not only rich hearty dark beers, but also this light crisp style of a modern American wheat beer.
Appearance:	Golden yellow in color. Pretty close to a Bud Light in color. One small bubble trail with a few random bubbles. Poured a large head from a normal pour. Retention was not long.
Aroma:	Much like other wheat beers, there is a detectable citrus smell.
Taste:	Similar to Sunshine Wheat. I guess this is a typical wheat beer taste.
Mouth Feel:	A little smoother than the Sunshine, with not quite as much carbonation.
Drinkability:	Decent overall, but I prefer Boulevard Wheat.

This is a glorious day.

I've fallen way behind on posting to my beer blog. I couldn't help but post this morning. I checked my email today and found that Kegs & Barrels now carries Boulevard beers, including Bully Porter, Dry Stout, Lunar Ale, Nutcracker Ale, Pale Ale and Unfiltered Wheat. Until now, I was of the understanding that Boulevard did not distribute to Texas. I've got a stock that was given to me for Christmas, but I can't wait to go pick some up...

Sunshine Wheat

Brewer's Description:	Sunshine wheat beer is brewed for year-round enjoyment, using equal portions of wheat and barley malts. It is spiced with coriander and orange peel in the Belgian wheat beer tradition. Sunshine wheat is silky gold in color with a spicy aroma and a subtle citrus character.
Appearance:	Golden yellow, not cloudy, one quick bubble trail with a few slower random bubbles. No real head retention.
Aroma:	Smells somewhat sweet and somewhat "biscuity." Can barely pick up a hint of citrus.
Taste:	Doesn't taste real sweet, but as far as beer goes, I can understand how it could be viewed that way. Aftertaste yields a hint of citrus.
Mouth Feel:	Not real smooth. Maybe a bit over-carbonated. Can definitely feel a bite from carbonation when held in mouth.
Drinkability:	Pretty easy to drink. Not my favorite wheat beer, but not the worst. I think I've had enough, though. Probably won't get it again. A little sour for my taste.
